An old and dilapidated wire partition cage that was used for chemical storage was in need of updating.

The original cage structure was installed with its post bases over a floor drain.

The condition of the cage prevented workers from securing its doors causing security concerns.

There were also safety concerns with forklifts hitting the overhead rail of the cage’s sliding door.
- The company needed a solution that met both safety and access control protocols.

The cage’s footprint was carefully measured.

There were specific considerations taken into account while measuring:
–Ensuring the new cage’s foot plates would not land over an existing floor drain,
–Ensuring the new cage’s wire panels stayed within an existing guard rail, and
–Ensuring there was enough clearance for forklift access inside the new cage. -
In order to avoid workflow disruption, the team coordinated with LiDestri’s maintenance team so installation of the new cage coincided with disassebly/removal of the old structure.
- A tunnel door (designed to slide open without overhead tracks) was used instead of a standard sliding door, providing unobstructed forklift access.
- The new structure was installed within the confines of the existing safety guardrail and cleared not only the floor drain, but also a roll-up door near the large tunnel door.
- The new structure had a standard key lock for safety.
- The new structure was safer and more secure.
- All work was performed on time and within budget.
