About the Company: Ivoclar Vivadent, Inc. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Ivoclar Vivadent AG, a worldwide manufacturer of dental products. The North American subsidiary primarily serves as a distribution center of aesthetic dental products.

Problem:

  • Introduction of several new product lines within category were being held off due to lack of space
  • Storage system for product line was out of sequence and spread over four different areas in distribution center
  • Revenue stream from new product lines was being delayed

Process

  • Held discovery meetings with affected departments to explore existing space and assess organizational needs
  • Suggested four solutions to maximize distribution space within current facility
  • Presented proposals and secure buy-in from parties involved

Solution

  • Took advantage of underutilized ‘overhead’ space by installing customized storage mezzanine
  • Developed and planned relocation of product line(s) on one weekend day (6 hrs.)
  • Increased aisle space and work areas by over 300%
